As a Malkavian, he takes on at least one derangement. His first is a condition known as "Synesthesia". This derangement has little to do with logic and more with sensory interpretation. The afflicted vampire's sensory input is somewhat "scrambled"; although he's still capable of receiving sensory information, the information each sense provides is processed in terms of a different sense. In short, the synesthetic "hears" colors, "smells" textures, "tastes" sounds and the like, and is hard-pressed to link such stimuli in any other fashion.

(Technical details: Apart from difficulties in daily communication, the synesthetic receives + 2 difficulty to any Expression and Performance rolls that don't involve creating purely surreal art, poetry or the like. The synesthetic may spend a Willpower point to correlate her sensory input in a "normal" fashion for a turn - or rather, at least to be able to communicate "normally" in terms of colors, textures, smells, tastes, temperature or sound. The character would still hear a ringing noise and think of it as a spicy smell, for instance - he's just able to focus enough to associate that spicy smell he hears with what other people call "ringing.")

Fortunately, this is not a random scramble; a conversation with Corey is much like listening to a CodeTalker, or perhaps someone who uses a lot of foreign words in everyday speech. He has plain speech until he describes a sensation, but one term is simply transformed to another. If you had a dictionary of these transposed words, you could understand him. Only one person does -- Rex Dominus -- as they have known each other long enough. Couple this with his Auspex and Obfuscate Disciplines, and he makes the perfect spy for Rex. If he's ever caught, which has never happened, he has perfect deniability; even under persuasive means, he'd never be able to explain what he knows... except to Rex.

Rex has only asked his service in this manner once, and only because he could trust no one else. Though he knows his friend was in no real danger, he did not like having to use his friend that way. But Corey has offered many times, out of friendship and respect, letting him know he would do anything for his Liege.

By his nature, he is non-violent, almost to a fault. His preferred means of avoiding conflict is humor, even at his own expense. He is the consummate Jester. He knows no other way of life.
