First, let me apologize for one thing -- I'm sorry I was not ready to begin the Ball on Oct. 31. I wanted to set a deadline for character sheets to be in by the 31st. I think most everyone has sent in their sheet. These people and more will be playing. I know a few of you still need help, and I'm getting to you all as I can. Many thanks to Scarlett and ^DarkMan for helping those I didn't get to. If you still need help with anything, please ask - you can still get in the game. So let me explain how time passes in The World of Darkness. Technically, the game started Oct. 26. when I posted [GT] The Masquerade Ball. The game IS on. Everyone who wants to attend the Ball can go. You can choose NOT to go. Whatever you choose for your character to do, please post this intention in the Game Thread. ^Requiem is the only one so far to post her intentions and a description of her costume. You may follow her lead and post as little or as much as you choose. As far as the game is concerned, it is not "October 31st" yet. It will be when I post that is the date. When that date does hit, I will describe the atmosphere of Nocturne and what you find upon arrival. For those who do not attend, be specific as to what you choose to do. I will post [GT] for some of these, consolidtating as many as possible. Note well: If you character is doing something, it must be posted in one of these [GT] threads. Any other descriptions, questions, etc, should be done outside of those threads, or email/PM me. Time passes in the game when I tell you the date and time in the game. For playing what happens at the Ball, it make take a few days to describe what transpires in only a few hours. This is not a single night game. If I could, I would get us a chat room to play in.... but I don't think I could keep up with the action in a chat room with a dozen players, let alone find a common time for us all to "meet". So, by playing in a forum, be advised, this will take a while. Not everyone visits every day, at the same time, etc. But note, my posts indicate forward movement of actions. You post what you want to do, I'll tell you what succeeds and what happens as a result. All in all, this is as much a story as it is a game. And with this many people, the many different personalities will lead this game in wonderful directions. It may even spawn off mini-games. This is normal and not a bad thing. Some people gel together and will team up, others have hidden agendas, while still others have a dark mysterious past which is about to catch up with them. As of now, I have no plot - no prescribed direction. I am setting the scene, and all of you may provide small pots that will mesh and make a great story and great game. There are no losers in the game, unless you consider final death the end of the game. That does not even need to be the case. Should your character die in this game, and you wish to play again, you'll have to play a different character, but you can, by all means. Once you all tell me if you are going to the Ball, or not, I will post what happens in those scenes. The game is afoot... D

Re: HOW THIS WORKS
So does that mean that at anytime throughout the game, others can join in? And if so, how long does that mean this game can go on for? Eternity?
Re: HOW THIS WORKS
As eternal as the vampires themselves. Muahaha.... :: Clap of thunder and flashes of lightning ::
As for others joining in, so long as I get a sheet for a character first, yes, new characters can come in. If any of you wish to play mulitple characters, you may also do so.
I only learned how to play this game by sitting in on existing games. When I felt comfortable, I created a sheet and played in their game, being written into the story.
The beauty of doing that with this format is everything is archived and ready to read. You don't have to be told backstory in other words.
So, come out, come out... wherever you are...

Re: HOW THIS WORKS
So that means if I get tired of my current player, I can have him leave town and start a new player (Prob human who might later get embraced) who just got a bus boy job in a hotel?
Well, I've never played this game before, but what better way to learn then by doing and have you correct my mistakes.
Re: HOW THIS WORKS
Absolutely, you can do this. But I'd like to discourage it as a regular occurance. I do believe in if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. But I also believe in giving everything you've got into your investment first.
